The Green Philippines Advocacy which I launched as a personal contribution to the re-greening of the country’s highlands and denuded mountains is catching fire.
Tomorrow, policemen belonging to the Davao Regional Police under Brig. Gen. Filmore Escobal will plant 1,000 Giant Bamboos in the Police Regional Training Camp in Kapatagan, Davao del Sur at the foot of Mt. Apo.
At least 100 seedlings of the Abuyog Sweet Jackfruit will also be planted tomorrow during ceremonies which I will attend.
A team of policemen arrived in my farm nursery in Kidapawan City today to withdraw their share of the Giant Bamboo and Jackfruit planting materials which I am giving out for free.
The Davao Policemen are the second uniformed contingent to support and participate in the Green Philippines Advocacy.
Last month, the 10th Philippine Marines Brigade under Brig. Gen. Jonas Lumawag planted 1,000 Giant Bamboo in Buldon, Maguindanao.
Next month, another Philippines Marines contingent led by Col. Romeo Racadio will also plant 1,000 Giant Bamboos in their camp in Tawitawi.
Under the Green Philippines Advocacy, I am giving out 1,000 Giant Bamboo seedlings to each province all over the country to serve as the mother plants for future expansion programs.
I am promoting the planting of the Giant Bamboo to address the problems of forest denudation and also to start a bamboo processing industry which would provide jobs and income for Filipinos in the countryside.
