Born and raised in the farm, I and my brothers learned a lot of traditional and practical farming practices from our grandparents and parents.
One of the lessons we learned from our grandmother, Lola Azun Magbanua Piñol, was how to germinate tobacco and vegetable seeds in seedbags made from green banana leaves.
Looking back, I cannot help but be amazed by the wisdom of the farmers of old.
Remember, hindi pa uso ang word na “bio-degradable” in those times.
Yet Lola Azun was already practicing environment-friendly farming.
In this video I made a while back, I am sharing what I learned from my Lola Azun.
This is a lesson made more relevant as we wage a campaign against the use of plastics in agriculture.
