In the Sorghum Production Program initiated by our young company, Southseas Agri-Aqua Ventures, Inc., headed by former Senator Panfilo Lacson, we have decided to make use of the stalks and leaves left after harvest and turn these into Silage for Cattle and Goat feeds.
The stalks and leaves which are still green after harvest are actually farm wastes but since Sorghum Silage is a good feed material for ruminants, we decided to gather and process these, placed in silage bags and sold to Cattle and Goat farmers at very affordable prices.
We actually only earn about P0.50 centavos per kilo net which is not really worth the time and effort spent in processing it but the company believes that by producing the Sorghum Silage, we will be able to contribute to the growth of the Cattle and Goat Raising Industry.
For us, farming is not just about making huge profits but it is all about ensuring that our people will have enough food supply in the years to come.
