I, Farm Boy! Kids Who Care For Pets Grow Up Compassionate

When my son, Bernhart Immanuel, was about 8 years old, he stopped me from stomping on a bee which landed on the porch of our farm house in Kidapawan.
“Papa stop! If you kill him, who is going to pollinate the flowers?,” he asked.
I was amazed to realize that at such a young age, Imman already understood the connection between the bees and the fruit trees in the farm.
This was mainly because at every opportunity, I brought him to the farm to be with the chicken and the goats and allowed him to catch fish in the muddy fish pond.
Now, he considers becoming a veterinarian or a geneticist.
Imman is growing up to be a compassionate and a very obedient child who loves music and singing.
I attribute this to his closeness with animals in the farm.
Yesterday, I was immensely pleased as my 5-year-old grandson, Duane, son my eldest daughter, Dr. Maria Krista, showed interest in seeing the goat kids.
In previous instances, I saw him coddling the cats in the house and caring for them.
Seeing this, it is almost certain that this boy will grow up to be a compassionate person capable of caring and loving.
Children who grow up with pets and close to animals are more conpassionate, according to a study.
More than that, with Imman dreaming of becoming a veterinarian and Duane showing love for animals, I am now sure that the long line of farmers in the family, from my great grandfather to me, will not be broken.
