Have you even wondered why roosters would crow at dawn of everyday even if heavy rains would darken the day and the sun would be hidden?
Yes, just like humans, chickens too have biological clocks and theirs is more precise.
While we could wake up disoriented about the time sometimes, the rooster would crow at the exact time of the dawn of everyday, even when kept in a dark room.
This is an often overlooked chicken farm management detail which could affect the health and productivity of our chicken in the farm.
One thing that I have learned through the years of breeding chicken is that they respond to sounds suggesting feeding time and they scamper to safety at any noise that would suggest danger like the “tikwi” sound of a hawk.
I have always asked myself: “Sino nagturo sa kanila?”
Well, now you know Who!
To maintain a healthy flock, chicken must be fed on a regular schedule.
If you regularly feed them between 7 to 8 a.m., you have to give the food at that time, not earlier and definitely not later.
Any change in the feeding schedule could stress them and it would make them vulnerable to diseases.
The most important thing is to make sure that there is always available fresh water in the yard.
Chickens could survive three days without food but it would be severely wasted if it does not have water for the same period.
