Nothing could compare to Mother Nature in keeping things in perfect balance, timing and set-up.
Yesterday, I saw a mother hen with 13 biddies in the barn where we keep the feeds and silage.
The sight of a stray hen which laid and hatched her eggs in the bushes amazed me no end.
While our expensive and digital incubators could only hatch 85% of our eggs at best, the hen with 13 chicks I assumed hatched almost all of her eggs because hens brood after laying at the most 14 to 16 eggs.
It made me realize that even without incubators, the Manok Pinoy breed which I developed for the last 11 years could be raised by farming families in remote areas even without incubators.
Most of all, the sight reminded me once again the magical powers of Mother Nature.
