Early Sunday morning this week, as I was checking on my seedlings nursery area in my farm, an old farmer came with his family in tow.
Mario Mujana, a farmer who owns a 3-hectare farm in Barangay Keyaab, Antipas, Cotabato, about 30 kilometers away from my area, said he wanted to see how my farm looked like.
It was obvious that farmer Mario learned of the things I was doing in my farm through his children who followed my Facebook page.
He said he wanted to know what he could copy from my farm practices.
I said in jest that I actually encourage “copying” in farming because it is the easiest and fastest way of introducing new technology.
He showed keen interest on my Rain Pipe pressurized irrigation system which emitted water from nano perforations of a plastic tube.
Like me, farmer Mario knows that the availability of water is critical to farming.
He did not ask for anything except probing questions on what is ideal for his farm
Before he left, I promised to visit his farm too to check on what I could do to help.
Between him and me, we have developed in that short moment a bond of two people who both love farming.
