Lately, I noticed an increasing number of broken eggs collected from my pens where I breed the “Manok Pinoy.”
This happened after I moved my breeders into a pen and designed a nest with a false bottom where the eggs just roll down beyond the reach of the hen.
While I have placed a layer of foam to protect the eggs from breaking, there were instances where the eggs would hit the head of the thumbtacks which we used to keep the foam in place.
Seeing this, I immediately introduced a remedy by placing a rubber band in the upper part if the egg receptacle preventing from rolling to the foam.
The elasticity of the rubber band also cushions the impact of the egg which accidentally rolls into another egg
So far, so good. We have less egg breakage now thus increasing our harvest everyday which also means that we will more chicks.
That is all because we i.mediately came up with an instant solution to problem.
