I, Farm Boy! ‘Retired’ Breeders, Red Rice Make Very Tasty ‘Arroz Caldo’

Late this afternoon, I shared with my brothers living just a few kilometers away from my farm house our newest product – the Organic “Arroz Caldo.”
This new delicacy, prepared by my Maguidanao cook for 15 years now, Mina Bala, used Red Organic Rice, Free-Range Eggs, Free Range Chicken, fried native Garlic, Green Onions and Citrus.
The chicken used in the “Arroz Caldo” were my retired breeders, old roosters and hens which had gone beyond their productive age.
When boiled in a pressure cooker, the meat becomes soft and tender and very tasty when mixed with Organic Red Rice.
I change my roosters every year and the hens every two years so I have a sufficient supply of old chicken for “Arroz Caldo.”
As young kids, “Arroz Caldo” was our favorite dish. In fact, it was only served during special occasions because one whole chicken was needed to feed us all 11 boys.
Early tonight, I sought the “review” of my brothers on the taste of our Organic Arroz Caldo and they all said it was perfect and looked classy.
Encouraged by this positive review, we will start the marketing of our Organic Arroz Caldo among friends and neighbors in Kidapawan City, Makilala, Matalam and Mlang next week.
We will be engaging a local motorcycle group to deliver our “Organic Arroz Caldo.”
Who will benefit from this new venture?
Of course, the organic rice farmers, the motorcycle riders and my farm since we will be able to add value to our retired Manok Pinoy breeders.
