I, Farm Boy! “Rolls Royce” of Dairy Goats Now Bred by Filipino Farmers

The Philippine Dairy Goat Industry is making giant strides as outstanding genetic lines are now being bred by Filipino farmers.
Among the prolific milkers now in the hands of Filipino goat breeders are Anglo Nubians and LaManchas.
The Anglo Nubians are distinguishable for their long and pendulous ears while the LaManchas do not have the floppy ears.
For the Anglo Nubian breed, there is one genetic line which has shown consistency in outstanding milk production, the Six M Galaxy.
Developed by the McClure Family of California and now based in Oregon, the Six M Galaxy Anglo Nubians are not really “show goats” but they are among the most consistent and prolific milkers.
A goat breeder friend, Jim Clem of Klamath Falls City, Oregon reports that his Six M Galaxy does crossed with hos top LaMancha lines could produce as much as 6 liters a day and they could hold their milk from 10 months to 1 year.
The good news is that the Six M Galaxy line could now be found in our farm in Kidapawan City along with the LaMancha lines used in breeding the super milkers.
At least 5 other farms also have the Six M Galaxy lines and these are the Urbiztundo Nubians Dairy Farm of Camilo Velasco in Pangasinan, the Naga City Goat Farm of Dr. Rufo Llorin, the Banilad Goat Farm of Eddie Aguilar in Cebu the Maragusan Daily Farm of Engr. Isidro Albano and the Mt. Carmel Baptist Rural Life Center in Bansalan, Davao del Sur.
I have it from good sources that there are other Filipino goat breeders who now have this line and it would be good if all those who have the Six M Galaxy bloodline could link up.
A registry of the existing Six M Galaxy breeders which would keep genetic records would be a big help.
Together, these breeders could help other small dairy goat farms in upgrading their existing lines.
With a coordinated effort, yhe Philippine Dairy Goat Industry will surely grow in the next few years.
