Early visitors in my farm today included the Chairman of the Sta. Catalina Multi-Purpose Cooperative, one of the country’s most successful and outstanding farmers cooperative.
The meeting with Windel Amoronio, second generation leader of the cooperative founded by the late Fr. Fred Epiz, OMI, included discussions on:
1. Expansion of Sta. Catalina’s processing facilities with the establishment of a modern processing center solely for organic rice;
2. A loaning program for individual farmers who would like to avail of Small Solar Irrigation System;
3. Opening of an investment window for Mindanao Overseas Filipino workers to finance such projects as hog raising, Vannamei production and Fish Cage Farming.
After the meeting, I showed Windel our Silage-making facilities to provide the cooperative technical support in their Buffalo Dairy Project whuch they are establishing with the support of the Philippine Carabao Center.
