I, Farm Boy! Sharing of Knowledge Farmer’s Greatest Joy

Last week, officials and leaders of fisherfolk and farmers from Olutanga town, Zamboanga Sibugay visited three provinces as part of the Orientation Journey initiated by the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA).

Their 1,500-kilometer 4-day journey of discovery covered three provinces namely North Cotabato, Davao del Norte and Agusan del Norte.

In my farm in Kidapawan City, I introduced them to high-value crops farming like the planting of Longkong Lanzones and Jackfruits in the island.

I aldo briefed them on raising goats and free-range chicken for additional imcome.

In the National Mariculture Park in Panabo City, Davao del Norte, they were exposed to modern fish cage farming and fisheries technology.

In Butuan City and Nasipit, Agusan del.Norte, they given an orientatiom on how to operate the mini-boiler to produce steam for fish drying, Spanish Sardines-making and vacuum packing of dried fish.

I joined the delegation during the trip and I enjoyed briefing them on how to grow Lanzones and Langka in their fsrms.

It was a fulfilling moment for me as I shared with my fellow farmers the knowledge I learned through years of experience as a farm boy.
