Early today, I introduced my grandson, Duane, to a new game – pulling a rake over the Sorghum grains which we were sundrying.
In the process, a few grains spilled out of the canvas which we used as drying mat but I just allowed him to continue until he gave up because of the heat.
Jjust the same, I succeeded in my attempt to introduce him to a farm chore by presenting it to him as a game.
With that, I could later introduce him to the magical game of turning Sorghum Grains into powder through the use of a hammer mill.
We should teach kids to love what they do because by doing that they will learn to enjoy work.
