Using locally available raw materials, Fil-Am farmer scientist Rocky French aims to produce a specially formulated feeds which would enhance the taste of Bangus raised in fish cages.
“The taste and tenderness of the fish largely depends on the feeds given during the last few weeks before harvest,” French said.
Yesterday, French and his team conducted a dry run of the pellet mills of the village feed mill in Kidapawan City.
The feed mill, one of the many established when I was Secretary of Agriculture, is owned by the Cotabato Livestock Producers Association (COLIPA).
COLIPA has agreed to allow French and his team to operate the mill under a tolling arrangement.
The first Taste Enhancer Aqua Feeds would come out of the mill in two weeks and will be tested in Malalag Bay before it will be introduced to fish cage farmers.
