The market for breeding materials of free-range chicken has greatly slowed down, thus I am cutting down on my production of Manok Pinoy breeders.
From about 800 hens giving us over 2,000 chicks weekly, we will reduce our hen population to only about 300.
The rest will either be culled and slaughtered for Arroz Caldo or set free in a free range area until the market stabilizes.
This is the situation in Philippine Agriculture right now where there is an air of uncertainty because of the effects of the COVID 19 Pandemic on the priorities of people.
Almost everybody wants to hang on to whatever little money they have to prepare for any eventuality where a loved one could be afflicted by COVID 19.
But real farmers do not quit.
We will hold on and pray that tomorrow will be better and we could recover.
