Fulfilling a promise I made to him as my graduation gift, I brought my youngest child, Bernhart Immanuel, to the Coachella Valley Desert to learn about fish and vegetable farming in the desert.
Yesterday, Imman who will soon turn 13 listened intently to desert fish farming expert Rocky French, a Fil-American from Tacurong, Sultan Kudarat, who owns the pioneering Aqua Farming Tech in Thermal City, California, as he lectured on how to grow fish in concrete structures in the middle of the desert.
As a father who wishes to prepare his son for the bigger and more challenging world ahead of him, I felt joy seeing my son’s eyes widen as Rocky shared his knowledge about fish farming.
Today, April 29, Rocky will guide us in a tour of the vegetable farms in the desert.
I believe this trip will leave a lasting impression in the young mind of my son whose dream is to become an agriculturist and a veterinarian.
The Coachella Valley Desert tour completes my graduation gifts commitment to my son, the first of which was a climb to the Philippines highest mountain, Mt. Apo, which we did on April 11 and 12.
