“LGU Corporation!” Small Mindanao Town Ready To Pilot Corn Silo Storage

Cagayan de Oro City – Officials and farmers of the corn producing town of Baungon, Bukidnon yesterday agreed to embrace and implement the Corn Grains Silo Storage Program initiated by the Mindanao Development Authority to protect farmers and boost production.

During the first day session of the 3-day workshop on the proposal to establish a Corn Grains Storage Silo facility, the stakeholders said this is the answer to the problems of corn farmers on very low prices during peak harvest season.

The workshop will be on its second day today where the technical teams will present to a panel composed of the Dept. of Agriculture, PhilMaize and Development Bank of the Phils for review.

When approved, the facility is expected to be established next year making Baungon the first-ever local government to undertake an economic enterprise project to boost its corn industry and protect corn farmers.
