It started with the Marines, then the Policemen and now, the country’s Firemen have officially joined the Green Philippines Advocacy by planting Giant Bamboos (Dendrocalamus asper).
Bureau of Fire Protection Chief Director Louie Puracan signified his agency’s intent to join the Green Philippines Advocacy through my younger brother, Mlang Vice Mayor Joselito Piñol.
Director Puracan, a Davaoeño, told me during a phone conversation yesterday that all Firemen in the country will be involved in the Green Philippines Program.
“Green Philippines will ensure the protection of our water sources and we as Firemen need water to put out fire,” Director Puracan said.
Next week, a truck load of Giant Bamboo planting materials will be delivered to Camp Castañeda in Cavite which later would be distributed to the different Fire Stations in Luzon.
