Last night in Barangay Sibsib, Tulunan, I saw a very dramatic sight of a man who was holding his son as he slept on the father’s shoulder while a woman, obviously his wife, held an umbrella for over one hour to listen to me.
As I reviewed the pictures of last night’s activities early this morning, I could not help but ask myself: “What made this couple stand in the rain with their son sleeping on the father’s shoulder?”
These are the dramatic moments in this campaign which have been replayed again and again in the many sorties I made since I moved around the province.
Sibsib Barangay Chairman Joemar Almirante said the people of his barangay waited since 5 o’clock in the afternoon for my arrival.
I finished my campaign speech at about 11 in the evening.
It rained in between but the people stayed until the end of the campaign sortie.
Scenes like the father with a sleeping son standing up in the rain with his wife are what inspire me and keep me going.
They make me realize the great expectations that my people have on me as their leader.
I cannot fail them.
