Actual Field Demonstration! VEGETABLE DERBY SET AUGUST IN BUKIDNON

In a program aimed at improving the quality of vegetables and productivity of farmers in the 50,000-hectare vegetable and high value crop area of Mindanao, the country’s seed companies are invited to an actual field demonstration.
The Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA), with the support of the Department of Agriculture and the local governments of Bukidnon, will stage starting August the Mindanao Vegetable Derby, which will allow high-value seeds companies to showcase the field performances of seeds and planting materials.
The Mindanao Vegetable Derby will culminate first week of December when the province of Bukidnon will host the first-ever Vegetable Festival in the tribal areas of Talakag, Impasugong, Sumilao and Lantapan or IMTASULA Complex.
In the Mindanao Vegetable Derby, all major seed companies, including organic fertilizer and soil nutrient suppliers and irrigation equipment dealers, will be invited to showcase their products.
Each will be given a specific area, one in each of the four towns of the IMTASULA Complex, which they could use to plant and propagate their vegetables or showcase their technology.
Companies whose vegetable seeds or planting materials would yield the highest production will be declared Champion with different categories.
Awards such as Carrot King, Broccoli King, Cabbage King and others will be given to companies whose seeds will show validated outstanding production and quality.
Fertilizer or soil nutrients companies will also be allowed to showcase their products and outstanding performances will also be acknowledged and given citations.
Bukidnon Governor Jose Maria Zubiri, who welcomed the MinDA Program during a briefing in Malaybalay City yesterday, said the Vegetable Derby will bring the province’s vegetable industry to a higher level in terms of productivity and quality.
Those interested to join the Vegetable Derby are requested to get in touch with the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) office in Davao City or coordinate with Ms. Genevieve Bangcaya, Focal Person at 0939 919 1675.
Deadline for the submission of intent to participate will be last week of July 2020.
