Kauswagan, Lanao del Norte – Government and the private sector will officially launch the first “Balik Probinsya, Bagong Pag-asa” Model Village for returning informal urban dwellers with a groundbreaking ceremony in Barangay Tacub in this town.
The village which will be established in a 6.8-hectare area donated by a private corporation will be patterned after successful models of communities involved in one common production activity with a complete value chain.
It will have 50 units of Quadruplex housing to accomodate 200 families who will be involved in the production of Organic Chicken and Vegetables.
After the groundbreaking ceremonies today, the Project Management Office (PMO) for the Kauswagan Organic Balik Probinsya Village will sign a marketing agreement with the Eng Seng Foods Corporation, a Mindanao private agri-trading company.
Eng Seng Food Products, represented by its president, will buy and market the organic chicken and vegetable production of the village.
The private sector support for the project was actually started by a Kauswagan-based GN Power Kauswagan (GNPK) which donated P10-M.
The fund was used in acquiring the 6.8-hectare property and the construction of the first model quadruplex unit.
All member agencies of the Balik Probinsya Bagong Pag-asa Council will contribute to the development of the village.
Lanao del Norte officials led by Gov. Imelda Q. Dimaporo and Kauswagan Mayor Rommel Arnado will lead the groundbreaking ceremonies.
The Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) which designed and packaged the BPBPP Model Village and regional representatives of the different agencies will also join the groundbreaking ceremonies which will start at 9 a.m. today.
