Balik Probinsya update! MODEL RURAL RESETTLEMENTS IN LANAO NORTE, ZAMBO NORTE

Kauswagan, Lanao del Norte – The Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) will conduct the first grassroots consultations today and tomorrow as it lays the groundwork for the establishment of the Model Rural Resettlement Communities under the “Balik Probinsya, Bagong Pag-asa Program” pushed by Senator Christopher Lawrence Go.
Lanao del Norte Governor Imelda Q. Dimaporo and Zamboanga del Norte Governor Roberto Uy will lead officials and residents of their province in the site visits and consultations to fully appreciate the details of the BPBPP.
Regional heads of the 22 departments and agencies who are members of the Balik Probinsya Council are expected to attend or join through a ZOOM conference the consultations.
During the consultations, I, as MinDA Chairman and member of the BPBPP Council, will also address issues and concerns raised by the Local Government Units and the residents.
Among these issues are:
1. What is the role and participation of the Local Government Units in the Balik Probinsya, Bagong Pag-asa Program?
2. How will the LGUs benefit from the program? Will it not give the LGUs added burden?
3. From the local residents, “Libre ang ilang balay, unya naa pa gyud sila’y livelihood project. Kami nga taga-diri wala man gani mi livelihood project labi na balay.”
(They get free housing and in addition livelihood projects while we were not even given livelihood projects or houses.}
All of these concerns will be addressed during the consultations in the two provinces today and tomorrow.
(Artist’s concept of a model BPBPP Rural Resettlement Project and the organic farming cycle were prepared by Joey Recimilla, City Tourism Officer, Kidapawan.)
