Manila’s Senior Citizens will be receiving a healthy gift from Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso this Christmas as the City Government distributes an initial 650-metric tons of Organic Black, Red and Brown Rice.
The Organic Rice comes from Mindanao produced by farmers who belong to the Mimdanao Organic Rice Council (MORCO) organized by the Mindabao Development Authority (MinDA) last year.
This is the single biggest sale of the Mindanao Organic Rice farmers who are under the umbrella of the Don Bosco Multi-Purpose Cooperative.
Mayor Isko ordered the purchase of the Organic Rice during the MinDA Tienda sa Manila in October.
He said the healthy organic rice is a perfect gift for Manila’s Senior Citizens.
“Mas malusog pa yan kumpara sa cake,” the Mayor said.
Following the placement of the order, Mindanao’s Organic Rice production was consolidated by Don Bosco and delivered to Manila in container vans.
