Olutanga, Zamboanga Sibugay – After a 3-hour ride in two fast but open pumpboats under the midday sun, the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) team reached Olutanga Island at almost 5 pm yesterday.
The journey was hard and scary as it was my first time to take a pumpboat without outriggers but to my surprise the locally-made boats rode the waves smoothly.
The difficult journey was compensated by a sumptuous dinner hosted by Mayor Arthur Ruste, Sr. with Vice Mayor Janie Bert Gumba all local officials present.
Blue Crabs, wild prawns, dèep sea fish, crispy squid and the delicious Sea Urchin filled the dinner table.
More reports on the Olutanga Journey will be posted later today.
