MinDA, through its Mindanao Power Development Program met with executives of state-run Philippine National Oil Company (PNOC) Renewables Corporation yesterday at Energy Complex, Taguig City.
The meeting discussed possible collaboration in the development of a proposed Waste-to-Energy Project for local government units in Mindanao. This proposed WTE technology will help facilitate sustainable waste management programs by utilizing waste from landfills for energy production.
Aside from the WTE proposal, PNOC RC is also looking into the development of 5MW Pioneering Greenhouse Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Assisted Project in Mindanao. The proposal was initially presented to MinDA Secretary Emmanuel Piñol when he was still the Secretary of Agriculture. The project will demonstrate the nexus between solar energy generation and food production and provide for climate-resilient project that can jumpstart local economy through state-of-the-art technologies on food production and energy generation.
Renewable Energy development is among the flagship programs pursued by MinDA through the Mindanao Power Monitoring Committee (MPMC), to realize a regime of reliable, sustainable, and cost-effective power in Mindanao. #IntegratingMinDAnao
