The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Philippines convened today key government officials as well as energy industry leaders and representatives for a discussion and workshop on the next set of strategies USAID will pursue to support the Philippine energy sector in the next 5 years.
MinDA Assistant Secretary Romeo Montenegro, who leads the MinDA Power Development Program, presented the workshop output on behalf of the government sector that includes the Department of Energy (DOE), Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) and National Electrification Administration (NEA) which collectively focused on policy harmonization and better inter-agency coordination.
The government sector recommendation also cited the need for Mindanao and the Bangsamoro Region, having the lowest electrification rate in the country, to pursue context-based strategy given its unique peculiarities and its strong push for renewable energy development. #IntegratingMinDAnao
