It has been five days after a group of farmers from San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte planted Garlic in a Demo Farm in Makilala, North Cotabato.
Today, Oct. 22, a Sunday, I inspected the area and saw that some of the Garlic cloves have started to sprout.
This is an exciting development because once it is proven that Garlic grows in Cotabato, this could be a major breakthrough.
With Mindanao’s vast areas, Ilocos Native Garlic could be produced in huge volumes.
When that happens, our dependence on imported Garlic could be reduced.
