The Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) will organize today a multi-sectoral and inter-agency council to address red tape and other issues which could impede the Economic Recovery in Mindanao.
The Mindanao Economic Recovery Facilitation Council (MERFAC) will be composed of representatives from the private sector, regional offices of national agencies, government financing institutions, law enforcement agencies and local government units.
The MERFAC is expected to address problems and issues like transport delays caused by unnecessary checkpoints, alleged corruption in port operations, delay in the processing and approval of loans from GFIs, red tape, slow or delayed implementation of projects and very slow and low budget utilization of the various national agencies in Mindanao.
At the end of the day-long virtual forum hosted by MinDA, a MERFAC Complaints and Action Center will be established which will receive and address complaints through a digital platform.
Lawyers and Legal Consultants of MinDA will be asked to craft proposals on how to give teeth to the MERFAC and empower it to take legal action against those causing delays which could impede Mindanao’s Economic Recovery.
