Finally, Harvest Day For Upland Hybrid Rice Pilot

The nearly 4-month experiment on the propagating of Modern Hybrid Rice Variety in the uplands using pressurized irrigation and fertigation system will finally end tomorrow with the harvest of about 500-square meter pilot farm here in Kidapawan City.

The harvest will be witnessed by officials of the Mindanao Development Authority, PhilRice, Seedworks and local govt and farmer leaders.

The pilot farm using TH82 Upland Hybrid Rice of Seedworks.

It aims to introduce the upland rice farming technology to upland farmers who traditionally plant only once a year.

With the pressurized irrigation and fertigation technology farmers could harvest at least twice a year with a higher yield.

The demo farm, which I personally funded, had been documented by both MinDA and PhilRice.
