Finally, we’re ready! Mindanao Ube Jam Launch Set Dec.10

After a series of adjustments and improvements, including the choice of the shape and size of the glass jar, the much-awaited Mindanao Ube Jam will finally be launched Dec.10 to 12.
The launching will be fittingly scheduled in time for the 3-day Mindanao Vegetable Derby set on those dates in Miarayon, Talakag, Bukidnon.
Mindanao Ube Jam’s main ingredient, the Purple Ube, is a product of farmers from Lantapan town, Bukidnon.
Between now and the launching dates, adjustments will still be made especially in the processing to ensure a longer shelf life.
The intent is to establish a semi-mechanized processing system to ensure food safety.
Last week, samples of the Mindanao Ube Jam were submitted to SGS Philippines,a certifying body, for laboratory tests.
After that, the application for the issuance of a Certificate of Product Registration will be submitted to the Food and Drug Administration.
As it is now, each bottle of Mindanao Ube Jam will weigh 700 grams with a net Ube Jam weight of 450 grams or almost half a kilo.
The main ingredients are Purple Ube currently sourced from Bukidnon, Goat’s Milk, Pure Honey and White Sugar.
The choice of a glass jar over a plastic container was made because of our intent to use a retort machine for longer shelf life.
I hope that with this step I am taking, I will be able to inspire others to take a second look at investing in agriculture , especially food production and processing.
This will result in reducing poverty and build a sturdy and resilient economy that could withstand pandemics and global crisis.
Under any crisis or calamity, people will eat, no matter what.
