Gawan na ng paraan! Shortage Of Aqua Feeds HIts Mindanao Fisheries

The production of Bangus, Tilapia and Hito in fishponds and fish cages in Mindanao is now threatened by the shortage of Aqua Feeds and this could result in less supply and higher prices this Christmas.
Small and medium fish cage growers of Bangus and Tilapia and catfish farmers are now scrounging for sources of Aqua Feeds which are mainly manufactured in Cebu.
The supply shortage was already felt by the aqua farmers following the disruption of the supply of materials, especially soya and other micro-minerals needed in feed formulation by the COVID 19 pandemic.
The situation worsened this week following the devastation suffered by many provinces in the Visayas, including Cebu where most of the aqua feeds come from.
This situation could have been avoided had there been an effective crisis management strategy on the part of government agencies which cover the sector.
