A young agricultural engineer from Cotabato Province is collaborating with local bamboo farmers to produce face shields using thinly stripped bamboo slats as the frame.
The group came to me two weeks ago to seek the support of the Mindanao Development Authority for the mass production of the Bamboo Face Shields.
We will support this project because this will provide income to bamboo farmers and jobs for those involved in the mass production.
But of course, we need commitment of market so that MinDA could link up with the Development Bank of the Philippines to provide the group the needed financing for mass production.

Patronize local products because by doing so we will be utilizing local raw materials providing income to the local farmers.
And since the products will be processed locally, there will be jobs available.
