MinDA Leads BARMM Team
In Cattle Feedlot Exposure
Early today, I will lead the team from the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) which will guide officials of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Government as they take the first step in starting the production of the Bangsamoro Halal Beef.
The MinDA team will also include Asst. Secretary Cherry Santos-Akbar and MinDA livestock consultant Arnel Corpuz, a former OFW who worked in a 50,000-head Wagyu Feedlot in Australia for 11 years.
Today’s activity will include BARMM Agriculture Minister Mohammad Yacob and officials of the Bangsamoro Development Agency.
This will be mainly an orientation tour of a Cattle Feedlot Facility in Glamang, Polomolok, South Cotabato where the Adelaide River Farm fattens at least 500 Cattle at any given time for a period of 100 days.
During the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on Technical Cooperation between MinDA, BARMM-MAFAR and BDA last week, Minister Yacob and BDA Chairman Mangontawar Macacuna expressed interest in the Cattle Fattening and Breeding Program which MinDA is promoting for LGUs in Mindanao.
The program involves the establishment of Cattle Fattening Feedlots and the Upgrading of local cattle through Artificiial Insemination or Embryo Transfer.
Minister Yacob and Chairman Macacuna expressed the intent of BARMM to participate in the program supported by the Australian Government.
Their objective is to produce a banner commodity for the Bangsamoro Region, Halal Beef.
After the orientation tour today, MinDA will assist BARMM-MAFAR and BDA in laying the groundwork for the establishment of Cattle Feedlots in the five provinces of the region.
