Happy ending! DAVNOR, TADECO, BUCOR SIGN COMPROMISE DEAL

Davao City – The Provincial Government of Davao del Norte, Tagum Agricultural Development (TADECO) and the Bureau of Corrections (BUCOR) tonight signed a compromise agreement ending a conflict which could have resulted in bloodshed and endangered the bio-security in one of the country’s biggest banana plantations.
Political adversaries Gov. Edwin Jubahib and former Cong. Anton Lagdameo, along with the representative of BUCOR Director Gerald Bantag, shared coffee in the Office of the Chairman of Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) before signing the agreement in front of members of the media and officials of MinDA.
The agreement was a result of two weeks of intense negotiations initiated by the MinDA following a stand-off Oct. 9 which nearly resulted in a bloodshed.
The agreement stipulated that the roads inside the 5,000-hectare plantation will be opened to commuters and vehicles, the core issue raised by Gov. Jubahib.
It also allowed TADECO to retain its bio-security facilities while BUCOR will maintain its security personnel at the gates.
A ceremonial opening of one of the two roads where passersby will be allowed without the previously required Gate Pass will be held on Oct. 24.
All parties agreed to submit the document to the Regional Trial Court of Tagum City and ask for the dismissal of the cases filed in relation to the dispute.
