Young Senator Christopher Lawrence Go is really living up to his family name: Fast and always on the Go!
Barely a week after he promised in front of President Rody Duterte that he will work for the completion of the Central Mindanao Airport in Mlang, I received a cryptic message from Sen. Go last night.
“Gud pm tok na namo sotr 3rd qtr daw po. Sir manny,” he wrote in a text message.
I did not quite understand the message right away but after deciphering it, I understood what it meant:
“Good evening Sir Manny. I have talked with the Secretary of Transportation (SOTr Arthur Tugade). He assured work will resume in the airport by the 3rd Quarter 2020.”
It was an exhilirating news because at long last, after so many years of delay and lame excuses, the Mlang Airport which I started to envision as Mayor in 1996 and implemented when I became Governor of North Cotabato in 2004 will finally be completed.
The airport project was in a limbo for nine years because of alleged “missing” documents which was blamed on me.
There were even allegations that I am the owner of the airport project because I signed the Deed of Sale for the 64-hectare property.
That is a preposterous and ridiculous allegation motivated by childish and vindictive politics.
Ako talaga ang pumirma sa Deed of Sale kasi as Governor then, I represented the Provincial Govt of Cotabato which bought the property from the heirs of Don Tomas Buenaflor.
I am relieved that the real and true story is slowly unfolding.
All that it actually needed was a firm resolve on the part of the new Governor of Cotabato, Nancy Catamco, to work on the needed and “missing” documents so that the airport construction could resume.
Of course, everything was triggered by a Presidential inquiry on the status of the project and fast action of the young Senator from Davao City.
Maraming salamat Pangulong Duterte at maraming salamat sa mabilis na aksyon Senador Bong Go.
Muli na namang napatunayan ang kasabihan:
Kung Gusto, Merong Paraan;
Kung Ayaw, Maraming Dahilan.
