The Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) will hold an on-line orientation for Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) and Expatriates based in Indonesia on the “Balik Probinsya, Bagong Pag-asa” Program of the Duterte Administration on June 11.
The OFWs and Expats, represented by the Philippine Business Council Indonesia (PBCI) earlier sought the help of MinDA for a briefing on BPBPP saying they too would like to go home to the Philippines.
PBCI Secretary General Norwin Mark Castro scheduled the on-line forum on BPBPP via ZOOM conferencing starting at 5:30 p.m. on June 11.
As Chairman of MinDA, a member of the BPBPP Council and coordinating agency for Mindanao, I was asked to do the presentation.
PBCI Chairman Tony Capati expects nearly 1,000 OFWs and expats based in Indonesia to join the ZOOM Conference.
“Most of us have little savings and we would like to know what investment opportunities are available for us to invest our savings on,” Chairman Capati said during a preliminary ZOOM Conference yesterday.
In yesterday’s preliminary conference, I thanked the OFWs and expats for expressing interest in joining the “Balik Probinsya” program.
Tomorrow, I will present to them the investment opportunities in Mindanao which we would link to the jobs creation component of the “Balik Probinsya” program.
The “Balik Probinsya Program,” initiated by Sen. Christopher Lawrence Go and supported by President Rody Duterte aims to decongest the over-populated urban centers by enticing informal settlers to go home to their provinces.
Housing, subsistence support and livelihood and jobs will be provided to the beneficiaries of the “Balik” program.
