Straight from a 1,500-kilometer journey from Quezon City to Davao City today, I dropped by a fastfood outlet for a quick meeting with Davao del Norte Governor Edwin Jubahib on the proposed “Adopt-a-Tribal Family” Program.
During the meeting, I presented to him the draft Memorandum of Agreement for the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA), TESDA and Davao del Norte provincial government to launch the “Adopt-a-Tribal Family” program in Kapalong town.
I called up TESDA Director General Isidro Lapeña and asked for TESDA’s support for the program.
Sec. Lapeña immediately signified his interest in getting his agency involved in the program.
The result – all three agencies will sign the MOA next week to help 150 Ata-Manobo families never ever served by government before.
The families will be assisted by both govt and the private sector.
Other agencies like DSWD and NCIP will be brought in later as partners.
The signing will be right in the mountains of Kapalong where houses will be built and livelihood projects provided to the 150 families of the “Lost Tribe” of Sitio Tapayanon.
I will post another story tomorrow for the details.
