A nation which, in spite of being blessed with resources to grow food for its people, relies on its neighbors for supplies is bound to face an inevitable disaster.
History is replete with examples of great military commanders who lost critical battles because they ran out of food for their soldiers.
In the face of Geo-Political realities where major sealanes could be choked in a conflict between the world’s Superpowers and the threat of climate change, it is a grave tactical blunder for the Philippines to rely on its neighbors for its staple food, rice.
This is a clear and present danger that our security and economic planners must never ignore or overlook.
