The Mindanao Development Authority ( MinDA) Governing Board on Tuesday, Sept. 8, unanimously approved a resolution asking an Inter-Agency Committee to lift the ban on the export of mature coconuts.
The resolution said allowing coconut farmers to export mature coconuts will provide them an option in earning more income because of the higher price offered by importers.
The Inter-Agency Committee which enforced the ban was created under a Marcos-issued Executive Order 1016 which listed mature coconuts as one of those which could not be exported.
The MinDA Governing Board includes Sen. Juan Miguel Zubiri, BARMM Chief Minister Ahod Murad Ebrahim, Governors and Mayors who chair the Regional Development Councils and members of the private sector in Mindanao.
The resolution also asked the BARMM to exercise its autononous powers and pass its own measure to allow the export of mature coconuts from the Bangsamoro Areas.
