The Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) is holding the first island-wide fruit growers meeting in the MinDA office Old Airport, Davao City on Aug. 28 at 1 p.m.
Invited to the meeting are individual and organized fruit farmers who produce the following:
– Durian, Mangosteen, Pomelo, Lanzones, Mango, Marang, Rambutan, Pineapple, Lacatan Banana, Passion Fruit, Sweet-Water or Aromatic Coconut and Guyabano.
The meeting is being initiated by MinDA in the wake of the succesful staging of the first-ever MinDA Fruit Festival in Baguio City where fruit-lovers wiped out 20-tons of fruits in just 3 hours and demanded for more.
MinDA plans to conduct a similar activity in other areas like Manila, Cebu, Iloilo, Pangasinan, Nueva Ecija, Bicol and Cagayan Valley.
To undertake these activities, MinDA wishes to have an accurate assessment of the fruit production of Mindanao.
MinDA also intends to assess the financing, logistical and infrastructure requirements of Mindanao fruit growers to develop the industry further.
There will be no registration fees but since the MinDA office has limited space, chairs will be available on a first-come-first-served basis.
There will be no free food or snacks. Participants are advised to provide for their own needs.
