MinDA to aasist 3 IP barangays in Zamboanga Sibugay

TITAY, ZAMBOANGA SIBUGAY (24 February 2020) – Barangays of Pulidan, Kipit, and Tugop Muslim of the Municipality of Titay, Zamboanga Sibugay are MinDA’s next recipients of its agricultural livelihood projects, said Secretary Emmanuel Pińol today during the Serbisyo Caravan organized by the Zamboanga Sibugay’s Provincial Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (PTF – ELCAC).
The caravan is an initiative of various local government units, national government agencies, and government-owned and controlled corporations (GOCCs) to provide a one-stop shop center for various social services needed by constituents of the said barangays.
“Our government service providers are here because we want to prove that the Duterte administration is sincere. That you have a government that listens and cares to your needs,” Piñol said.
To synergize efforts with the Provincial Government in building peace, security, and development in the said vulnerable communities, MinDA will extends its agricultural livelihood projects.
“We will introduce basic livelihood opportunities so that your families will have source of food and income,” he added.
Secretary Piñol offered 200 ready-to-lay egg (RTL) chickens to start the egg production program, as well as 22 heads of goats for goat multiplier farm for the said barangays.
Constituents will be trained for egg production, vegetable farming, and goat multiplier farming as the identified economic interventions. MinDA is expected to come back to the communities to provide basic orientation about the livelihood projects.
His Western Mindanao team will also work together with the Provincial Agriculture Office for vegetable farming, and other agricultural-based economic activities that will uplift the quality of lives of these Subanen communities.
“We will develop your barangays into agricultural learning center communities with the assistance of TESDA for technical trainings, and Department of Agriculture for other needed materials and equipment,” Piñol said.
MinDA will also engage the barangays for the Water Supply Program through its solar-powered irrigation package. Further, Provincial Agricultural Office eyes to enroll Brgy. Atsalol which has an 8000-hectare ricefield to the agency’s Organic Rice Program.
Meanwhile, Governor Wilter Yap Palma encourages the communities to be a partner of the government in attaining collective peace and development in the Province.
“Those who are still uphills, let the government help you. Let us help one another. We brought to you this caravan because we want to show you, that you have the government that you can trust and rely on. If there is no peace, there is no development,” Palma said.
The Serbisyo Caravan is a joint initiative of various government agencies that aims to provide livelihood projects and other economic opportunities to (NPA) rebels who surrendered to the government forces and the conflict-stricken communities.
This is also in support to the President’s issuance of Executive Order 70 effective 04 December 2018, or also known as the whole-of-nation approach to end local communist insurgency.#
