Two weeks ago, I asked Butuan City-based engineer Rudy Cane, younger brother of Agusan del Sur Governor Santiago Cane, to design for me an equipment to peel and grate Ube tubers which we process into Ube Jam.
I also asked him to fabricate a small corn mill to crack Yellow Corn and a shredder for Carrot rejects for my free-range chicken.
Yesterday, I received three equipment – two Corn Cracker/Carrot Shredder and one Ube Peeler/Grater – all designed according to my specifications.
For the three equipment, I paid Engr. Cane, a multi-awarded inventor, only P55,000, an incredible price for tools which would make my farm operations efficient.
After I discovered Engr. Cane’s fabrication plant in Butuan City earlier this year, I have called on him to design and fabricate other equipment needed by the different areas in Mindanao.
For the off-grid fishing communities of Mindanao, I asked him to design a fish dryer and a retort machine for Spanish Sardines-making.
A proto-type will soon be established in Nasipit, Agusan del Norte and another in Olutqnga Island, Zamboanga Sibugay.
I have also asked Engr. Cane to regroup the Mindanao inventors and fabricators so that they could be tapped for the development of small and medium scale business.
With these local inventors, Mindanao would not need imported farm equipment and machinery.
We could do it right in our own backyard and designed perfectly for our actual needs.
