Mindanao Organic Rice In Manila Christmas Pack

The City Government of Manila, through Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso, purchased a total of 650-metric tons of Black, Red and Brown Organic Rice from Mindanao farmers for Manila’s Senior Citizens.

The supply came from farmers who belong to the Mindanao Organic Rice Council organized last year by the Mindanao Development Authority to provide rice farmers an option for better income.

Farm gate prices of ordinary rice dropped from a high of P19 to P20 to as low as P10 per kilo as imported rice flooded the market.

Organic rice farm gate price is pegged at P25 per kilo with Don Bosco Multi-Purpose Cooperative consolidating the farmers produce.

Mayor Isko is ordering another 150-metric tons making the Manila sales the biggest ever by Mindanao Organic Rice farmers.
