Not true at all! ‘BALIK PROBINSYA’ GOES ON; TRANSFER SCHEDULE RESET

The ‘Balik Probinsya, Bagong Pag-asa’ Program of the government has not been suspended but the scheduled transfer of the urban dwellers to their provinces has been reset.
This was confirmed today by National Housing Authority (NHA) General Manager Marcelino Escalada, Jr. in a phone conversation while I was traveling back to Cotabato from a 2-day trip to Lanao del Norte and Bukidnon.
Only the schedule of the transfer of families from Metro Manila to the provinces has been reset to address concerns of the local government units on their preparedness in receiving the families.
In fact, the decision of the BPBPP Council to defer the scheduled return of the families was in response to the suggestion of LGUs in Mindanao that they be given enough time to prepare the facilities on the ground like shelter and livelihood activities.
I welcome the deferment of the scheduled return as the earliest we could prepare the first three model resettlements would be between two to three months.
Kauswagan, Lanao del Norte would most probably be the first LGU ready to establish the model BPBPP Village complete with housing and livelihood projects.
The opening of the Kauswagan Village is expected early September of this year.
