Only in Mindanao! PRIVATE CORPORATION LEADS ‘BALIK’ PROGRAM IN DAVAO SUR

Digos City, Davao Del Sur – A newly-organized Filipino corporation involved in Aquaculture will take the lead in implementing the “Balik Probinsya, Bagong Pag-asa” Program in Davao Del Sur, making it the first model of its kind anywhere in the country.
Fintech Aqua Ventures Corporation informed Davao Del Sur Gov. Douglas Cagas that it will employ informal urban dwellers who are returning to the province under the “Balik Probinsya, Bagong Pag-asa” Program initiated by Senator Christopher Lawrence Go.
The corporation is opening a 90-hectare Vannamei or White Shrimps Production facility, a 70-fish cage Bangus Production and an Aqua Feeds Milling facility in Hagonoy and Sulop towns, all in Davao Del Sur.
In a call on Gov. Cagas, Fintech Aqua Ventures President Butch Cordura said the corporation could accommodate over 200 heads of families who are interested to work in the Aquaculture industry.
Later, in a call on Hagonoy Mayor Franco Calida, Cordura said his group will also look into financing the establishment of the “Balik Probinsya, Bagong Pag-asa” Resettlement Village for the returning urban dwellers who will work with the company.
Cordura said the company will coordinate with the Home Development Mutual Fund (HDMF) to provide financing for the housing project which the workers will pay back on a long term basis.
“This is our support to the program of President (Rody) Duterte and Sen. (Bong) Go to decongest Metro Manila and create employment opportunities in the countryside,” Cordura said.
The Davao Del Sur Balik Probinsya, Bagong Pag-asa Resettlement Village will be the fourth to be established through the facilitation by the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA).
It will, however, be the first model of a private sector led Balik Probinsya Resettlement Project which will be funded by the private sector.
Other resettlement villages which will soon be opened are in Kauswagan, Lanao Del Norte; Sergio Osmeña, Zamboanga del Norte; and Kalawit, also in Zamboanga del Norte.
