I usually do not react to news about national agriculture and food supply issues which were part of my tasks when I was Secretary of Agriculture.
But the announcement made by Sec. Harry Roque about a Food Security Summit to address the current food crisis offended me.
Nagmukha naman akong walang alam sa Food Security Planning dahil lumalabas na parang ngayon lang naisip ang ideya na yan.
Sa barangay high school lang ako nagtapos pero alam ko naman kung ano ang pangangailangan ng ating bansa sa food security.
The proposed Food Security Summit to address food shortage was already done in 4 Clusters 2 years and 3 months ago.
The National Food Security Master Plan was one of the major undertakings of the Department of Agriculture in 2018.
Commitments of support, especially in providing facilities for greater production, were made to the Governors and Mayors who attended the Security Summit.
It was not given priority funding, hence most the recommendations in the Master Plan were not implemented.
Now, that the country is facing a food crisis, another Food Security Summit is being proposed.
Maski ilan pang summits ang gagawin natin kung hindi susuportahan at bibigyan ng pondo ng mga economic planners, wala ding mangyayari dyan.
