Kidapawan City, Cotabato – Leaders and stakeholders of areas in the Mindanao River Basin will meet today to review previous programs and recommend new steps to address the perennial flooding which affects agriculture and communities.
The Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) will be the convenor of the 4th Mindanao River Basin Management Council chaired by Orlando Cardinal Quevedo, OMI.
North Cotabato Governor Nancy Catamco, whose province is seriously affected by the annual floods, hosts the meeting which starts 9 a.m. in the Cotabato Provincial Capitol.
The meeting comes after the massive devastation caused by the floods in Cagayan Valley blamed on forest denudation and river siltation.
