While rubber farmers and tappers in North Cotabato are complaining over the very low price of raw rubber cuplumps which is now at P36 per kilo, the price of cuplumps per kilo in Thailand is 58 Baht, roughly P80.62.

The Thai pricing is supported by other internet information available on the price of cuplumps in other rubber producing countries in Asia.

In Bangladesh, for example, a ton of cuplumps is being sold between $1,750 to $1,850 which would mean a low of P75.25 per kilo and a high of P79.55.

These figures would refute the claims of local traders and their political benefactors in North Cotabato that the very low buying price of raw rubber cuplumps in North Cotabato is a result of the very low world market prices.

Here is the latest pricing graph published by the Thai Rubber Association in its website: http://www.thainr.com/en/?detail=pr-local.

Tomorrow, Monday, an estimated 5,000 rubber tappers belonging to the Free Tappers Association are set to stage protests in front of the Municipal Hall of Makilala, North Cotabato.

Makilala is the acknowledged No. 1 rubber producing town in the Province of North Cotabato and people depend mainly on the rubber industry for their survival.

The price of rubber reached as high as P100 per kilo for raw cuplumps a few years ago.
