SEC. MAR ROXAS DIRECTS PNP XII TO WORK HARD ON DULAY CASE

interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas has directed the Philippine National Police Region XII to work hard for the solution of the murder of Kabacan Vice Mayor Policronio Dulay.

Sec. Roxas, in a text message sent in response to an earlier text message from me, said that he has directed PNP Region XII Gen. Alex Paul Monteagudo to exert all efforts to give justice to the Dulay family.

“I have already instructed incumbent RD Monteagudo and incoming RD Calima regarding this matter,” Sec. Roxas said in his text message.

Monteagudo is expected to be given a new assignment and his replacement is Gen. Calima, whose first name I was not able to get.

Sec. Roxas’ immediate action was believed to be a result of the instructions of President Benigno S. Aquino III who earlier vowed that he will work on the solution of the Dulay killing.

Pol Dulay, a former policeman who emerged in Kabacan politics as one of the most respected Ilocano leader in the town, was gunned down in broad daylight on USM Ave. in Kabacan at 2:30 p.m. Friday by a lone gunman while buying candle for a dead relative.

He suffered a lone gunshot wound in the armpit, the bullet apparently piercing his heart.

Following an appeal by his wife and children, I sent a text message to President Aquino and Sec. Roxas asking for their help in solving the Dulay murder.

The President and Sec. Roxas both responded immediately with assurances of help in solving the killing of the Liberal Party candidate for vice mayor.
