For three days starting tomorrow afternoon, farmers, fishermen, food processors and handicraft artisans representing the Tri-People of Mindanao will be stars of a show in the nation’s capital, the MinDA Tienda in Manila.
A joint project of the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA), the City of Manila, the Bangsamoro Autonomous Government and local government units in Mindanao and the regional offices of the national agencies, MinDA Tienda in Manila aims to link farmers and fishermen with direct and institutional buyers in Metro Manila.
While there will be items for sale, the main feature of the 3-day activity is the Business Matching Booth to be manned by MinDA officials which will link buyers with farmers’ groups.
Through this program, MinDA aims to cut down on the tiers of middlemen and traders who make more money than the farmers and fishermen who burn their skin under the heat of the sun.
It will also provide the consumers of Manila access to fresh produce at lower price.
Manila Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso has given his full support to the MinDA Tienda Project and offered to incorporate this in the Kadiwa Program of the City of Manila.
The opening of the MinDA Tienda in Manila will be at 2 p.m. tomorrow in the Kartilya ng Katipunan Plaza beside the City Hall of Manila.
Mindanaoan Senators Manny Pacquiao, Christopher Lawrence Go, Juan Miguel Zubiri, Koko Pimentel and Ronald dela Rosa and Congressmen from Mindanao have been invited to the opening ceremonies.
